Collin's Daily Sketches
As an Industrial Design student one of the main ways I communicate ideas and concepts is through quick sketches. This blog is a daily log of my sketches to help me see where and how I can improve my sketching.

VRay Rendering

Our class is now behind schedule and it ends tomorrow, so we have stopped sketching before we move on to new material. Today we learned how to render in 3D Studio Max using VRay. This is my first try and I am pretty happy with it. The model was created as a sample by our instructor (Dosun) and then we were set free to render it. I look forward to learning how to manipulate this renderer to do what I want with my own 3D models.

Camera Again
Quick Sketch (dosun)

This sketch was a 5 minute in class exercise to keep up with what we have learned on the cintiq. We are now hand modeling our mouse design, but Dosun did not want us to get to far away from sketching. The underlay sketch was done by Dosun before class and was given to us to sketch render over the top. I can do better, I need to learn to do so quickly!!!

Illustrator Rendering

The next step in our optical mouse project is to further explore the form by rendering in Illustrator. It is much more difficult to accurately render in this program, but it has some quick tools like the gradient mesh tool that make it fun to change and play with shade and shadow. I feel like I could do better with some of the details, but for the time I had I feel fine about this effort.
(coming up we are going to be making a quick foam model and then 3D scanning it back into Rhino)
